Microsoft is in talks with the Chinese home brand DanceByte to buy Tiktok.
The American multinational giant headed by Indian-American Satya Nadella is in advance talks to take over the US operations of Tiktok.
Tiktok which was launched in 2017 had become a sensation recently, during the pandemic with over 2 million people downloading the application.
The Chinese based app is questioned for its breach in the information of its users.
President Donald Trump said,
“We are looking at TikTok, we may be banning TikTok. We may be doing some other things, we have a couple of options… But we are looking at a lot of alternatives concerning TikTok.”
Maybe due to deteriorating ties between the US and China, Tiktok has been under a lot of scrutinies.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had said, early July, that the US was planning action against TikTok because of the threat it poses to user privacy.
It has been tipped as a ‘threat to national security’.

According to US media reports, this billion-dollar deal would give the software company a popular social media service and relieve US government pressure on the Chinese owner ByteDance.
But there is also a possibility of other potential buyers coming forward, said another person familiar with the discussions.
Also appreciating the idea U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican and member of the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence, said
“We must do more than simply remove ByteDance from the equation. Moving forward, we must establish a framework of standards that must be met before a high-risk, foreign-based app is allowed to operate on American telecommunications networks and devices.”
