26 January is celebrated every year all around the nation, India, to celebrate the republic of the nation.

Thus, 26 January is celebrated as the republic day, and hence the day is considered as a national day.

To celebrate the auspicious day, every citizen must be aware of what does the term republic stands for.

Republic

The term republic is considered a form of government in which the country is considered a public matter.

Literally, it means that a state is ruled by representatives of the citizen body.

However, India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

However, the constitution was taken in the assembly on 26 November 1949 but fully executed on 26 January 1950.

Thus, on 26 January 1950, the Indian constitution came into full power, and from then, it became a tradition for the Indians to celebrate the day as the republic day.

But some of them had given it literal sense by using their brain silently and can be considered as the unsung heroes of the battles.

They were the lawyers who valiantly structured the Indian Judicial System and paved the way for properly framing the Constitution.

On this very auspicious and holy occasion of the republic day, let’s remember some of the unsung heroes.

Starting with Govind Ballabh Pant, the architect of modern India as well as a renowned freedom fighter.

During his early days, he had influenced many people with his speech, and without any political support, he campaigned against the British Raj.

He passed the Hindu Code Bill, which gave the women the right to divorce and inherit ancestral property.

Moving next to the father of the nation, who was a mastermind in both the field and hence regarded as mahatma of the nation.

We all know him as a freedom fighter because of his courage and how he made Britisher’s knee down before the Indians, but before he was a lawyer too.

His words inspired many downtrodden Indians to gain a stand and left a great impact on the nation.

As a lawyer, he went against the South African discriminators and the British empire rule in India.

P. N. Bhagwati, the 17th chief justice of India, pioneered India’s judicial activism movements and had also been the part of the United Nations Human Resource Committee and The International Labour Organization.

It is only because of the great lawyer P. N. Bhagwati that the Indian constitution has gained public interests, litigation, and absolute liability.

One of the most eloquent and barrister of India, Nani Palkhivala, his works and he himself is still is being taken as an example to the present generations.

Nani was an Indian Jurist as well as an economist too.

His skills as a lawyer were first recognized in the very famous case filed between Kesavananada Bharati and Kerala’s state, in which he interpreted the constitutional aspects and the embedded concepts.

Being a powerful soul, he used to be the center of attention in the court always.

In the shortlisted name of women, Cornelia Sorabji was the first woman to came out of the kitchen during the 1900s.

She was the first to advocate and practice law both in India as well as Britain.

She was the very first person who opened the gates of the male-dominated legal studies, equal for the women competent also.

It is only because of her; it is possible for women today to learn the law and advocate in the court.

While being the lawyer, Sorabji helped numerous women and orphans from the crucial tricks of the Britishers.

Dr. BR Ambedkar was the most appropriate leader to be talked about on the auspicious occasion of the republic day.

He spearheaded the Drafting committee of the constitution as a chairman and hence regarded as the father of the Indian Constitution.

The very first law minister of India, Ambedkar, fought for the rights of women and the labor community.

He was the first minister for the Dalits, who advocated for the backward classes in all his facets of life.

He was no doubt the champion of socio-economic reforms in the country.

He was a constitutional expert, as well as wise enough. He studied almost sixty other constitutions of the country to draft the Indian constitution.

Thus, the Indian Constitution is a blend of the constitution of the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Australia, France, Canada, the Soviet Union, Weimar Republic, South Africa, and Japan.

Thus, the true spirit of Independence came on the republic day. The day when Indian citizens were really and truly liberated and hence given an opportunity to be a part of a republic nation.

In lieu to this concept, the true and unsung heroes were not only the knights who fought the war on the battlegrounds.

But, they also joined their hands together to frame the ideal constitution of India and made the Indians free from the evil clutches of the then existing lopsided law of the Britishers.

One of the main reasons behind the celebration of the republic day is to remember these great souls who fought for us physically as well as mentally.

Now, I would like to give a full stop to my words by giving two minutes of silence in remembrance of these great souls and the strength of the Indian constitution, who played a great role in making the Indian republic.

Thanks to all the audience present here to take your valuable time to listen to my words and the knew the role of such a great soul behind framing such an ideal constitution.

Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!
