Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone – Expected specifications
For months, there were rumors of a gaming-focused smartphone made by Lenovo. Now that it’s launch date has been announced here’s what you can expect from this device.
As it is a Gaming Smartphone, obviously, it is different from your normal handset.
Now, what makes a Gaming Smartphone Different?
Most gaming smartphones use a small handful of remarkable capabilities.
Although these features can exist on normal smartphones, since those devices do not specialize in a single type of task, it is unneeded.
These special features are –
- All Gaming phones have extremely high refresh rates, to lessen the difficulty of playing games on normal screens, so retaining a clear image is important.
- Gaming phones also require to load rapidly, so they need fast processors.
- The last main feature usually is better-than-average battery life or very fast charging so that the gaming sessions are not interrupted.
The recently announced Lenovo Legion phone is expected to have all of the above-mentioned features, and then some extra.
Other expected feature of Lenovo Legion –
a.) Camera –
As we all love the camera, let us begin with it.
In May, a report had revealed some features of the phone’s camera.
Lenovo Legion has a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 64 MP wide-angle lens and a 16 MP ultra-wide lens.
Its front camera, popularly known as Selfie camera, is 20 MP, and the phone can also shoot videoes in 4K at 30 frames per second.
More features of the camera include Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus.
It is also believed that the rear cameras are placed uniquely at Centerra of its back panel.
b.) Software and Storage-
For software, the Lenovo Legion will use Android 10, which would be supported by the brand’s gaming-oriented Legion UI on top.
In terms of other specs, GSM Arena shows it packed with a Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor and 12 GB of RAM.
The handset is expected to use LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 inbuilt storage. It also has an inbuilt space of 512GB.
c.) Display-
Its has 6.6-inch display which runs at the standard quad HD and 1440p resolution of the most high-end smartphones.
It also has a shocking 144 Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10+.
d.) Charging and Touch –
It has a super-fast 270 Hz touch sampling rate that makes it as responsive to taps as possible.
It also has 90 W fast charging through HSBC which is backed by a 5000 mAh battery.
Connectivity features of the device include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Volte, and more.

The Lenovo Legion Phone Isn’t Built Like Other Phones – What is different?
Its specs make the Lenovo Legion comparable with other high-tier phones like the rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 20, but its game-centric design choices are still more attractive.
The most noticeable difference is the phone’s cameras:-
The dual-camera array on its rear differs from most modern phones because it doesn’t have a camera “bump”, that is, the raised area on the back of phones to fits the camera sensors.
Instead, it has a flat design that appears, as based on renders, keeping the phone level on flat surfaces.
Most importantly, the camera is installed near the center of the phone, instead of near the top or in a corner.
Perhaps the idea is to keep the rest of the phone’s rear panel almost as symmetrical as on a gamepad.
To perhaps further that goal, the front camera doesn’t have an in-screen “hole-punch” design.
Instead, it uses a pop-up camera that slides out from the side of the phone, to make sure to not disturb a player’s hand placement.
Besides that, though it is still unconfirmed, XDA Developers has reported that a Lenovo legion teaser video hinted at a dedicated cooling system.
Now, Smartphone processors have continued to improve, but as processes get more demanding, phones also heat up quickly.
Be aware that the teaser was incredibly vague about the phone’s cooling system, but the video did say that the phone has “dual heat pipe partitions” for “long-lasting cooling”.
These unique design ideas, perfectly show how gaming phones differ from standard phones.
Though, fear not, your High-end phones are soon going to have similar specs and speed by virtue of how the industry works.
However, the physical elements of the phone can still be tweaked to convert it into a more specialized device.
This type of creation will only become more widespread as more mobile devices will be built to run games.
