Shai Hope-The New Hope
The moment we hear West Indies, the first thing that strikes to our mind is fearless hitting, massive sixes and innovative hits. But Shai Hope is a bit different from the traditional West Indies as he believes in building the game calmly and patiently.

The Early Days:
Shai Hope was born on 10 November 1993 in Barbados. Shai is from a Sports loving Family where his father was a Club Cricketer and his mother used to play Netball Cricket and his Brother is a Current Cricketer Kyle Hope.
Hope was educated at Bedes Senior School in East Sussex, England under the guidance of former Sussex captain Alan Wells. Whilst at Bedes, Hope guided the 1st XI to the national 20/20 final where he scored a half-century in a losing cause versus Millfield.
During the 2012 season, Shai had a brief stint at local East Sussex side averaging 46 runs throughout the season with a top score of 61. He also considered remaining in the United Kingdom at that time, to qualify to play for the England cricket team later in his career.
Shai Hope made his first-class debut in the season of 2012-13. He performed marvellously well in the first season of his first-class debut as he emerged as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the season with 628 runs in just nine games.

International Debut:
Shai Hope got his opportunity for the big stage in the year 2015 as he got the opportunity to don the white jersey for the Indies in England. He made his debut at the Oval but owing to his less experience he did not live up to the expectations of many.
Shai had played only 14 games prior to his International Debut. He experienced pressure at the big stage. His numbers did not justify his class. It took Shai Hope two years to score his maiden hundred in Test cricket. In the year 2017, he showed the world cricket that he has arrived.
Shai Hope added 246 run partnership with Kraigg Brathwaite in the first Innings. When again he walked out to bat in the second innings he showed the same composure and class and he again scored a ton. He was awarded Man of the Match for his two in two hundred.
Shai Hope averages only 26.72 in Test Cricket as he struggled in the initial days of his career at the big stage.

ODI and T-20:
Shai Hope made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in tri-series which took place in Zimbabwe. He scored his maiden ton against the home side (Zimbabwe). He was declared as Man of the Match which ended in a tie.
Shai Hope has been a constant performer for West Indies in the white-ball cricket as he averages above 50 with 9 tons to his name and highest score as high as 170.
Shai Hope scored his highest score against Ireland where he did an unbelievable partnership of 365 with John Campbell. Also when West Indies toured to India in 2019 the double H troubled India in the inaugural ODI as both the batsman scored hundreds to take the team home.
Shai Hope has also performed fine in the T-20 format. Since he is not a big hitter of the ball but still he averages above 20 with a strike-rate of over 135. He has played for Rangpur Rangers in BPL(2019-20).
