Bachelor of Engineering(B.E)

Most of us are confused about Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech), Obviously me too. But when I was searching about it I came to know that these 2 courses are the same in almost all sections, But there is a slight difference, To know about the same let’s dive into the article.

What Is Bachelor Of Engineering (B.E)?

Bachelor of Engineering is a professional under graduation (UG) program with a duration of 4 years that is equal to 8 semesters(2 in each year).

Globally an Engineering degree is considered one of the most reputed professional degrees that help to create new trends in the market.

Bachelor of Engineering mainly focuses on scientific laws and theories, Later implementing them in real-world applications.

The Courses that are offered in B.E are Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering that are considered as mother courses in this field.

Computer science Engineering, Mechatronics, and Aerospace Engineering are derived from domain branches that have more demand in the present market. Eligibility to get admission to Bachelor of Engineering is 10+2.

Difference Between Bachelor Of Engineering(B.E) And Bachelor Of Technology(B.Tech) :

The Bachelor of Engineering or simply B.E and Bachelor of Technology or simply B. Tech, Both are professional undergraduate(UG) programs with similar courses, Duration, and Eligibility criteria.

But the only difference is B.Tech mainly focuses on practical orientation at the Advanced level. Where B.E is theory-oriented with fundamental practice levels.

Course B.Tech B.E
About The Course It is more practical oriented, focuses on core subjects from the very beginning. It is theory-oriented mainly focuses on fundamental concepts, Students have to study other branch subjects also.
Duration 4 years with 8 semesters. Same as B.tech. 4 years with 8 semesters.
Eligibility 10+2, With Maths, physics, Chemistry backdrop with a minimum of 50% pass percentage, should clear particular Entrance Exams like JEE Mains, EAMCET, etc. 10+2, With Maths, Physics, Chemistry backdrop with a minimum of 50% pass percentage, Should clear some particular entrance exams.

Which Course Is Better B.E or B.Tech?

These 2 courses have equal importance in society. For Example, If you want to build a tool engaged in the manufacturing hardware then B.E is suitable for you.

However, if you want to advance the tool with a beautiful UI then B. Tech is preferable.

Students can choose either of these fields based on their interests and future plans. Some particular universities are opting for admissions only for B.E and some are for B.Tech.

AICTE mentioned that it does not consider both degrees as different and provided equal recognition for both fields.

Moreover, in countries like Australia, B.Tech degrees have less preference rather than B.E.

Bachelor of Engineering students explores :

  • Apply analysis and modeling to design solutions for engineering problems
  • Identifying new techniques, skills, methods to solve the problems.
  • Constructions of Electronic gadgets, roads, and bridges.

Bachelor of Technology students explores:

  • Enhancing the models efficiently, Consulting the model analysis for good development.
  • Researching new technologies and implementing new Algorithms.
  • Building new gadgets and innovating them.

Students who graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in entry-level know multi-disciplinary fields with less practical knowledge. They implement the designs after reporting to the supervisors, The graduates mostly graduate from subjects like Nano Technology, Semi-Conductors, Electrodynamics, Digital logic design.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Engineering degree are “Technicians”. At the entry level, they start their work by creating new automated systems, Optimising the existing automated system by writing codes to it.

Universities are recommending students to gain knowledge on some of the following courses at the high school level to join in B.E/B.Tech.

  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Algebra
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Digital logic design
  • Introduction to Technology

In addition to this some extra curriculum activities like sports, Dance, Painting, etc are helpful to participate in national/international level competitions.

Job Opportunities :

Both  B.E and B.Tech have an equal number of Job opportunities. Only it is up to you that how you perform in your position. Many job opportunities are there for Engineers to work on new cutting-edge technology. For Bachelor of Engineering graduates here are some positions for reference

  • Aerospace Engineers
  • Agriculture Engineers
  • Biomedical Engineers
  • Chemical Engineers
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineers
  • Health and Safety Engineers
  • Petroleum Engineers
  • Surveying and Mapping Engineers, etc.

If you want a good position with a decent salary hike your CV should consist of the following skills :

  • Planning
  • analytical thinking
  • logical thinking
  • problem-solving
  • Project management
  • Research abilities, etc.

Remember the job offer which you got is the result of your dedication and hard work.

Bachelor Of Engineering In India

Bachelor Of Engineering In India :

In India many universities offering B.E courses in their curriculum, The admission usually starts for the students who completed+2 with a minimum of 50% marks in government authorized exams.

An Entrance Examination should be taken at the state or national level that helps to get placed in IITs or NIT’s even some popular Deemed universities provides seats for those who scored a good percentage in those exams.

Here are some state and national level entrance examinations which helps to know about it

  • JEE Mains-Joint Entrance Engineering Examination
  • JEE Advanced- Students who secured good scores in JEE Mains are eligible to write JEE Advanced
  • EAMCET – State level Engineering Entrance Examination
  • VIEEE- Vellore Institute Engineering Entrance Examination.
  • BITSAT- For those who want to opt Bachelor of Engineering in Birla Institutes.
  • COMEDK-Karnataka state Engineering Entrance Examination
  • MH-CET-Maharashtra State Engineering Entrance Examination.

Here only some are mentioned you can search on the internet about Entrance Examinations in detail.

If there are no seats and you secured very less marks in entrance examinations you can buy a seat in the donation category. You need to pay an extra amount to the management in a lump sum. No installments are allowed you need to clear in a single payment.

Donation category seats are not much better, So dedication and hard work will give you the best result not only in admission but also in placements.

B.E In Other Countries

Australia

In Australia Bachelor of Engineering(B.E) is available as a four-year professional undergraduate (UG) program, It is also producing a six-year sandwich course (where students have to join in a professional placement as a part of the course). There is an eight-year part-time program provided by some universities in Australia.

The Engineers Institute of Australia accredits degree courses and provides membership for graduates. The Bachelor of Engineering graduates can opt to take placement or elect to study Master after completing their UG.

Canada

The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board(CEAB) is the group of Engineers in Canada that accredits the degree courses and provides degrees to professional Engineering Graduates.

The Engineering Graduates of those courses are considered in a specific way and they are well trained by experts to become licensed professional Engineering Graduates. These type of practices is to maintain the education standards and allow mobility of Engineers to improve their practical knowledge.

Graduating from a four-year accredited program is considered the first step, Later they have to involve in a professional skill-development program to shine their knowledge.

Graduates from a non-accredited program should demonstrate that it is at least equivalent to the accredited graduate program.

Finland

University of applied sciences provides Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Finland. Even you are awarded the degree it is not officially prepared due to the Bologna process- the Bologna Process is a series of ministerial meetings between European countries to ensure Quality of Education Qualifications.

Many countries are providing B.E Education according to the rules of their Accreditation standards.

Admission Requirements In Foreign Countries
