2. Jana Gana Mana

Jana Gana Mana is a crime thriller film directed by Dijo Jose Antony. Numerous real-life incidents are definitely reflected in the film, including the Hyderabad gang rape case in 2019.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character is taken away by the police and a woman (his wife) sobs amid a riotous crowd in the opening scenes. The body of a young Muslim college professor who was raped and burned is left out in the open by her assailants.

3. Dhruvangal Pathinaaru

A Tamil sleeper hit which is critically acclaimed as a suspense-thriller. Its story revolves around a police officer who lost his leg while investigating the strange murder of a couple. Siddharth Abhimanyu, in the film, is a rich and powerful scientist who has committed many medical malpractices for money. Hence, Mithran, a dutiful IPS officer, is out to expose him and to bring him to justice.

Later this movie was also remade in Telugu with Ramcharan Teja replacing Jayam Ravi. Its dubbed version available in Hindi as Dhruva.

7. Vikram Vedha

A Tamil mystery/thriller starring R Madhavan as a cop and V Sethupathy as a smuggler. Vikram is on the search to arrest Vedha.

8. Maayavan

It is a 2017 Tamil science fiction-cum-mystery-thriller film featuring Sundeep Kishan and Lavanya Tripathi in the lead roles while Jackie Shroff and Daniel Balaji appear in supporting roles.

The story is about a police officer on a mission to arrest a criminal, who murders the same mysterious pattern.

9. Mumbai Police

 

It is a 2013 Indian Malayalam psychological crime thriller film written by Bobby–Sanjay and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Starred by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jayasurya, and Rahman in the lead roles, and with Kunjan, Aparna Nair, Deepa Vijayan, and debutant Hima Davis appearing in supporting roles.

10. Aparichit: The Stranger

Now, this film truly shocked its audience. Also called Anniyan, translated as Stranger, it is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film. It was written by S. Shankar,  who also directed it and V. Ravichandran of Aascar Films produced it.

Vikram is the main lead as Ambi, an idealistic, law-abiding lawyer who, unknown to him, has multiple personality disorder and develops two other identities: a metrosexual fashion model named Remo, and a murderous vigilante named Anniyan. Sadha has played the role of his love interest, Nandini.

Two police officers who take it upon themselves, thus investigating the case of a missing actress. Both deal with the criminal who despite admitting about the crime, refuses to reveal anything.

12. Drishyam

Drushyam, the original Malayalam version,  is about the story of a crime surrounding a  Maharashtrian family whose head is Vijay.

The suspense of the story begins when a teenage boy goes missing, who is the son of a willful IG Meera Deshmukh.

Vijay’s family becomes the prime suspect in the crime as it is suspected that the boy last visited them. The film depicted how a humble and middle-class man fights to protect his family from the oppression of the powerful.

13. U-Turn

Rachna, a young journalist who is the protagonist, is horrified at the number of illegal u-turns which results in the traffic accident. While pursuing the evidence, she finds herself in the middle of a police case, gets caught in dealing with a series of murders.

In her attempts to free herself from false accusations, she became a part of the investigation process.

14. Memories:

The story is about the drunk alcoholic cop who is mourning the death of his wife and daughter, who gets a case of a serial killer. The villain is portrayed excellently, and the overall experience is extremely thrilling.
