Evolution:- From and After Sony PS4

PlayStation is a Japanse brand of video games that have under them 5 home game consoles i.e PS and  PS 1-5, and a  media center along with a big line of controllers, two handhelds, phone, and multiple informative magazines.

The owner of this wonderful brand is the very known MNC, Sony. The headquarters of this company is in Minami- Ayoma, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. This company was founded in the year 1994, i.e exactly 26 years ago.

The home consoles of this brand have seen a heck of an evolution.

The original Play Station was the first hand-held device made by this company, which was an instant hit!. The company shipped around 100 million pieces of this device. There was an inclusion of successor game consoles and  Net Yaroze which is a specialized black colored box that has tools and instructions to program PlayStation games and applications.

Along with Play station and PS one, a total of 102.49 million units were shipped which was very profitable for the company.

Ps one (July 2000) was proven to be a game-changer in this field of gaming! It had adopted two changes from its other counterpart, which being, the various cosmetic changes in the design, and home menu’s Graphical User Interface; a variation of the GUI. This model outsold its predecessor and break some records too.

In almost the same year of the release of PS one, the company came up with PS two. This was very successful in comparison to the other gaming consoles.

A milestone in the form of the selling of this console was achieved by this company. In the year, 2005, the sale of this console reached up to, 100 million units. It was the console which has reached the sale of 100 million units, first, before PS one. A slim model of this console was also sold which did gain popularity.

PS Three was released in the year 2006, November 11. It was the console that had a motion sensor feature due to the Sixaxis wireless controller. PS 3 has even the amenities of the blue-ray disc and has an increment of up to 500 GB in the hard disk. In the year, 2013, this console sold up to 80 million units.

Now let’s talk a little about PS4. This console came in the year 2013. The eighth-generation system came in the fourth quarter of x86 architecture to the play station series. A new application in this is the use of smartphones and tablets into a second screen to enhance gameplay. The company also came out with the debut of PlayStation Now which is a  game streaming service, powered by technology from Gaikai.

Sony PS4 is also available in different models like the Slim model, Play station pro, PS4 pro, and other combinations like this!

Last but not the least, in the evolution list, is the PS5.

The first news of this console was released in the year 2019. The company is planning to ship this console in the year 2020. This is until now the most advanced console ever released by this company. The console is slated to use an 8-core, 16-thread CPU based on AMD’s Zen 2 microarchitecture, manufactured on the 7-nanometer process node.

Furthermore, details were released which stated the use of the console’s integrated Blu-ray drive would support 100GB Blu-ray discs and Ultra HD blue-ray.

Sony has come out with yet another challenge of finding a bug or critical vulnerabilities in one of their best selling product, sony PS4

For this feat to take place, Sony has joined hands with a security platform HackerOne to carry out the bug bounty program. Earlier also, these programs have enabled hackers and various other researchers to gather around $100 million.

For this Bounty, Sony is offering $50,000 which is equivalent to around INR 38 Lakhs. To find critical vulnerabilities in Sony PS4, the company is giving the said amount, while it also has to offer around $3,000 which is around INR 3,78,140. Sony PS4 is saying to award the money to the first hacker who reports the vulnerabilities which were earlier unreported.

The global communities of hackers have changed the way of working with various security panels and councils. It has uncovered 170,000 vulnerabilities in nearly 2,000 customer programs.

” I’m happy to announce that we have started a public PlayStation Bug Bounty program because the security of our products is a fundamental part of creating amazing experiences for our community,” said Geoff Norton, Senior Director Software Engineering, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).

The way I see it, it is a good and ethical way to get rich and get Sony ps4 for free (just kidding!)

In my opinion, I see this bounty as gold for any skilled hackers out there. Hacking through a device enables the company to work around their way and create a much stronger firewall or any other changes required for the need of the customers since nowadays, the dependence on technology has increased many folds.

Such bounty programs should be encouraged but not unethical hacking. The dark side of the web causes more damage than benefit for the company or for that matter any user in general.

I feel really bad to see when many talented citizens of our country are just wasting their talents and are sitting idle in a small corner side shop of computer repair or engaging themselves in unethical means. Such bounties should be available to every such citizen who just are in need to show their talent, but are not getting enough opportunities.

If we form an army of such individuals, then I am sure it will be the best one in the world. An army that has hackers, thieves, robbers, roadside assassins, gamblers, and criminal masterminds, will make a nation indestructible as the army will be fed with one goal,i.e. Patriotism. With some necessary changes and legal paperwork, such an idea is possible.

So guys, go ahead and come up with the best of your talent and hack the heck out of that goddamn Sony Ps4 and let the company introduce the hacked version in the market.

Go for it!
