Requirements for pilot training

Requirements for commercial pilot and defense pilot differs.

To be a commercial pilot in India, one must obtain a commercial pilot license from the authority which gives a commercial pilot license. In India, that authority is the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.  As required for most of the courses, pilot aspirations must be +2 passed with minimum percentage requirements for different colleges. Three subjects- physics,  chemistry, and Mathematics should be taken by the candidates. And a minimum of 50% is expected in all subjects.

Since the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is the apex body, aspirants should undergo pilot training in the Directorate approved institutions. Before joining the approved institutions, there are two tests that should be cleared by the candidate- medical test and written test. Physically fit is an important aspect of pilot training.  A pilot aptitude test and personal interview are also conducted before accepting the aspirants into institutions. To get your commercial pilot license, 200 hours of flight time is required, and to get an Air Transport Pilot License, 1500 hours of flight time is required.

India’s defense forces give you free cost training plus the Golden opportunity to contribute to the nation’s safety and pride. To enter the national defense academy, an entrance test needs to be cleared. Followed by written examination, the interview divided into two stages, pilot aptitude test and medical examination.
