  • Early Days:

Quinton De Kock was born on 17 December 1992 in Johannesburg, Gauteng.De Kock attended King Edward VII School in Johannesburg. He was spotted as a schoolboy talent and used to play for the affiliate club Old Eds.

Quinton was spotted as a budding talent and he impressed cricket agents during his school era. Quinton was a keen watcher of the ball since the early days. Quinton De Cock showed maturity which was much higher as compared to his age group.

After some great astonishing performance, at junior cricket, Quinton De Kock was selected for 2012 U-19 World Cup. He performed extremely well at this level as he scored the most number of runs for South Africa in the tournament. His performance with gloves was also impressive as he recorded 5 dismissals in the quarter-final game against England.

  • The Step to International Cricket:

Quinton De Kock started his domestic career in 2012 at the age of just 19 years, playing impressive and superb cricket in T20 Champions League 2012 he smoothes his way for the international cricket.

Quinton spotted by the selectors when he was given impressive inning of 51 runs just on 33 balls in the Champions League 2012 against Mumbai Indians. He caught limelight after showing his ability to perform under pressure and his consolidating knocks when the team required the most.

  • The International Career:

Quinton De Cock was included in the South African senior cricket team when Ab De Villiers decided to take a break from the sport.De Kock represented South Africa for the first time, at T20 level, on 21 December 2012 against New Zealand.

Quinton De Kock made his ODI debut also against New Zealand at the start of 2013. But Quinton showed his real class and temperament in the series against India when India toured to South Africa at the end of 2013.

He scored 3 consecutive hundreds against India and became the youngest player to do so. He levelled the record of most tons at the age of 21 which was held by Upul Tharanga.

In August 2014, Quiton became the joint quickest batsman to get 1000 runs in the One Day internationals cricket match, Quinton sharing the record with Viv Richards, Jonathan Trott, and Kevin Pietersen.

Quinny completed the milestone in 21 innings. In this tour, Quinton also awarded by the title of “Man of the series.”

Quinton De Kock a few months later his impressive performance against India in ODIs. But his test performance hasn’t been as impressive as his performances in ODIs and T-20s. In test cricket, he bats lower down the order as compared to ODI and T-20.

Quinton  De Kock played a splendid knock of 104 against Australia when the team needed the most. He showed that he has the temperament to make his mark even in the most difficult format.

  • IPL Stint:

Quinton started his IPL career with SRH in the year 2013 but he wasn’t a constant part of the playing XI for the entire season. In the next season, he caught the eyes of Delhi Capitals and was a part of the same team till 2017. In 2018 he played for RCB where he played a couple of good knocks but the franchise wasn’t satisfied with him.

In 2019 he played for MI where he opened the innings for the entire season and he played a very crucial knock in winning the title for the team. He was admired by Rohit Sharma for his calmness and understanding of the game.

  • Leadership Skill:

South Africa had a very poor run in the World Cup 2019 as they departed from the group-stage. South Africa needed a new skipper to build a new team as legends like Ab, Amla already were bidding adieu to the game. Quinton was the correct choice as he had experience and calmness a captain should showcase.

In his captainship, he himself has scored runs including quick 70s and 100s and led the team front the front. Quinton seems to be a promising young captain who can take South African cricket to new heights.

  1. Quinton was the captain of South Africa’s U-19 in January 2012.
  2. Quinton, Neil Mckenzie, and Graeme Smith studied from the same school.
  3. Quinton was a big fat at a young age and his mates used to call him Tubby Taylor due to his similar physique to Mark Taylor.
  4. Quinton de Kock shares a joint record with West Indian Viv Richards, Kevin Pietersen, and Jonathan Trott to the fastest 1,000 runs in One Day Internationals.

Social Media: Quinton looks fishing as he spends his time off the field in polishing his hobby. He keeps posting pictures of fishes he catches on the social media He considers himself average cricketer but a better fisherman.
