Ravindra Jadeja to miss pre-season training camp in Chennai
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will miss Chennai Super Kings’ six-day training camp in front of the group’s flight to UAE for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The camp is booked between August 15 and 20 in Chennai.
The other individuals from the franchise including captain MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu will go to the camp, which will concentrate on fitness essentially, alongside some cricket preparing as well.
“He has individual responsibilities,” ESPNcricinfo cited CSK Chief Executive Officer Kasi Viswanathan as saying, clarifying Jadeja’s nonappearance.
In any case, Ravindra Jadeja will be in Chennai on an ideal opportunity to get onto the trip to the UAE on August 21. Jadeja, who has been at home in Jamnagar throughout the previous four months after the lockdown began. He will assume a vital role as Chennai Super Kings will intend to lift their fourth title.
Ravindra Jadeja might not regret by missing this camp as the focus in the camp would revolve around the fitness. Ravindra Jadeja is one of the fittest cricketers in Chennai Super Kings setup.
“It is not easy to hit the 100 per cent mark straightaway in any sport. As we progress with our skills and fitness every week, we will look to improve our strengths in phases,” he added.
“The good thing for us is we had a pre-season camp in March which was attended by most of the players including key players like MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina,” he added.
Viswanathan said the Tamil Nadu government had given written permission to the Super Kings to conduct the camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, behind closed doors.
Amongst the coaches, only L Balaji will be the person available at the nets.
Head coach Stephen Fleming and assistant coach Michael Hussey, are likely to join the squad in Dubai by August 22, Viswanathan said.CSK are expecting two South Africans players Faf and Ngidi to join the squad after September 1 due to their own commitments.
“When we asked Faf and Ngidi about their decision regarding IPL 13, they said we are coming for the season. After September 1 we will board the flight for UAE the duo said,” Viswanathan said.
The most important bowler for the team Imran Tahir will be a part of the setup after taking part in the Caribbean Premier League in Trinidad.
Viswanathan also said the South African backroom pair of Eric Simons (bowling consultant) and Greg King (physical trainer) would join the squad in Dubai on August 21. Other IPL franchises as well will start leaving for UAE after August 21 following BCCI’s directive.
IPL 2020 will commence from September 19 and will run until November 10. Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi will host all the matches of the 13the edition of the cash-rich league.
