Minor League Cricket(MLC) which is a T-20 tournament organized by USA Cricket board with an ambition to promote the game of cricket and increase the fanbase for the game amongst the citizen is passed on to 2021.

Minor League Cricket was set to feature 22 cities/region-based teams across the US. The teams would have had both US-based and international players and elite Under-21 talent.

Better performance in MLC can open the doors to Major Cricket League which is first professional T-20 Tournament of USA.

The inaugural season of Minor League Cricket was scheduled to commence on July 11, 2020, but the pandemic has forced this tournament as well to another year similar to different sports.

As per USA CRICKET official website:

• MLC Draft set for Saturday, August 15th, with franchise owners now in place across all 24 Minor League teams.

• Inaugural Minor League Cricket season now set for launch in Spring 2021; with exhibition matches under consideration for Fall 2020 pending local health guidelines.

American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) has chosen to concede the debut period of the Minor League Cricket (MLC) because of the progressing vulnerability and danger of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As indicated by sources near ACE, the tournament initially expected to be held in the not so distant future is presently likely ready to begin in the spring of 2021.

However, the possibilities of the exhibition games are still not vanished away and as they plan to start the exhibition games from 5th September at the local level.

The schedule for the exhibition games can be out by the third week of August which is just two weeks from now.

American Cricket Enterprises(ACE) is focusing on going forward with the players draft on August 15 and subsequent formation of squads.

There are more than 2000 players who have registered themselves for the MLC via ACE’s online player registration portal. These players will be fighting for a place amongst 24 teams.

There is a probability that the franchises would be allowed to retain their set of players and draft picks for the first season next year with a view of making the players train together as a unit.

The decision for the team owners can be out by next week. Numerous benefactors of the US cricketing fraternity, receiving multiple applications for all the 24 teams spread across the US.
